The Regatta is held on the River Wear and its riverbanks in historic Durham City. Stunning views of the City, the Castle and of course the Cathedral provide a constant backdrop for spectators, visitors and competitors. Racing takes place throughout both days of the Regatta, scheduled for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June 2014, as supporters cheer on their favourite crews.
A wide variety of stalls, catering for all sorts of tastes in food and refreshment, entertainment ranging from music from local brass bands to the Classic Car rally mean that in addition to watching the best of rowing in the North-East there is always plenty for spectators to do.
Innovations for the 2014 Corepeople Durham Regatta include the introduction of time trials for the high performance rowers, with the crews allocated to knock out events based on their performance. This should ensure some close and exciting racing.
A very modest charges for entry to the Racecourse is made for each day of the Regatta and children under 5 are admitted free.
